What is 7 10 Day: National Dab Day
Like we need another reason to celebrate cannabis? Ha, who are we kidding? We don’t need reasons! But, July 10th is a day that we dedicate to cannabis concentrates. There’s a symbolism of 710 that we can’t ignore and its purpose is to bring awareness to cannabis concentrates and oils. Known to be more potent than any other form of cannabis, these concentrates are basically pure THC and are consumed by vaporizing or to infuse a cannabis pre roll.

Definition and significance of 7 10 Day
Can you believe that the whole significance of 7 10 day is due to the fact that the number, when flipped upside down, reads “OIL”? Would you look at that?! So, this is how we coined the term “Dab Day” within the cannabis industry. Including all things dabbable, cannabis concentrates and extracts are consumed amongst friends around the world on this special day.
The History Behind National Dab Day
While there isn’t a specific historical event behind 710, it’s believed to have emerged as a playful and creative celebration within the community. There is talk about the hip-hop artist, TaskRok, mentioning the 710 term during a virtual dab session in a TinyChat chat room in 2010 when playing a word game. What we know for sure is that the buzz of 710 first appeared on TokeCity on July 10th, 2011. This was soon followed by a more detailed definition on Urban Dictionary. By 2012, a post about 710 made its way onto Marijuana.com. Finally, in 2013, the term was featured in an article in LA Weekly, making it official.

Cannabis Concentrates: The Star of 7 10 Day
Types of cannabis concentrates
Hash Oil: sometimes called cannabis oil or honey oil. This is your thick and ultra-potent concentrate.
Shatter: has a glass-like look and feel to it. It can have a slight transparency and is very brittle.
Wax: or budder, or crumble, is a softer and more whipped-like concentrate. Rosin: made without using any solvents. Instead the concentrate is made by applying heat and pressure to the cannabis flower.

Consuming Cannabis Oil Products
Methods of consuming cannabis oil
The more common method, known as dabbing, uses a dab rig and a blow torch to heat and vaporize the concentrate. With our awesome advancements in technology, there are now smaller and more portable options like weed vaporizer pens that you can carry around in your pocket! Cannabis oils, extracts, and concentrates are exactly what you want to infuse your pre rolls with. Whether you place the concentrate on the inside of the joint or lace the outside of the joint in wax, just grab your lighter and toke up. Also, cannabis oils, not so much concentrates, are how you get those tasty weed edibles. It’s an all around versatile form of cannabis that can be used to magically enhance just about anything.
The Dabbing Process
Step-by-step guide to the dabbing process
1. Gather your materials: You’ll need a dab rig, which consists of a glass water pipe, a nail or banger (usually made of quartz, titanium, or ceramic), a dabber tool (a small metal or glass wand used to handle the concentrate), a torch or e-nail to heat the nail, and a carb cap (optional, but helps to control airflow).
2. Prepare your concentrate: Using your dabber tool, take a small amount of your chosen concentrate. Be mindful not to touch it with your fingers, as the oils can be sticky and difficult to handle.
3. Heat the nail: Using your torch or e-nail, heat the nail until it reaches the desired temperature. The ideal temperature can vary depending on the concentrate and personal preference. For most concentrates, a temperature between 315°F (157°C) and 600°F (315°C) is recommended. Quartz nails tend to retain heat longer, while titanium heats up quickly.
4. Allow the nail to cool: After heating the nail, give it some time to cool down before dabbing. The recommended cooling time can vary depending on the type of concentrate and the thickness of the nail. Generally, waiting around 20-45 seconds is a good starting point. You want the nail to be hot enough to vaporize the concentrate, but not so hot that it burns and produces harsh vapor.
5. Apply the concentrate: Once the nail has reached the desired temperature, use the dabber tool to place the concentrate onto the nail. Gently touch the concentrate to the heated surface, allowing it to vaporize instantly. Be cautious not to touch the hot nail with your fingers or the dabber tool.
6. Inhale and enjoy: As the concentrate vaporizes, inhale slowly and steadily through the mouthpiece of your dab rig. Some people prefer to use a carb cap to cover the nail, which can help retain heat and improve the vaporization process. Take your time and savor the flavors and effects of the concentrate.

Why People Dab
Benefits and appeals of dabbing
Aside from the obvious fact that dabs are a one-way ticket to fully launched… there are a few perks that are worth noting. Cannabis concentrates have the richest flavor and terpene profile, because that’s basically all it is. As it’s vaporized, the effects start going to work immediately so you can avoid that not-so-certain waiting time you’re faced with when consuming cannabis edibles. When comparing dabbing to other cannabis consumption methods, you can expect the smell to be a pretty close resemblance to that of smoking fresh cannabis flower. The high effects tend to last around the same length of time, 30ish minutes, like smoking a bowl or joint would. A significant difference really only lies in the amount you consume. Which a gram of concentrate will keep you lifted far longer than a gram of fresh flower.
